Things To Do In Portland For Halloween 2014

Greetings, guys and ghouls. As October begins, the pumpkin spice latte returns, the leaves begin to fall and kids of all ages start planning what they want to be for Halloween. As you can imagine, the weird city of Portland really gets into the spirit of the spooky season, so we thought we’d do a round up of the best halloween events it has to offer. From haunted brewery walking tours, halloween horror house attractions,  to indoor trick or treating- there’s something for every member of the family to enjoy. Taking place nightly throughout October, this fascinating guided walking tour takes you into some of Portland’s most haunted bars and breweries in the Historic Old Town District. Wander the cobblestone streets, admire the grand 1800s architecture and sample 7 delicious beers from local breweries while your tour guide introduces you to some of Old Town’s most infamous ghosts, a drug dealer, prostitute, fireman and more. Expect to hear chilling tales about the wild days of Portland and even a few first hand accounts of creepy paranormal encounters. Run Like Hell 2014: A Halloween Themed Race

Sunday the 26th of October sees the 11th annual Run Like Hell race, widely regarded as one of Oregon’s favourite Fall traditions. This full costume half marathon/ 10k and 5k  race  benefits Molly’s Fund Fighting Lupus, a Portland based non profit that aims to change the way people understand Lupus, its diagnosis and treatment. 2014 sees the addition of The Musical Mile, 12 blocks where 12 local Portland musicians will play to the runners. The theme this year is Under The Sea, so sea monsters, sea witches and all mermaids are welcome. For more information about registration, visit the website. 

Haunted House and Corn Maze at Rossi Farms

If super spooky is your thing, you won’t want to miss the elaborate Old West Themed Haunted House and corn maze at Rossi Farms. This attraction utilizes some of Portland’s local high schools’ performing arts programs and community projects, with the cast consisting of 50 young actors and actresses. This year, you’ll enjoy even more hollywood quality special effects, live western shoot-outs as well as  a 20,000 square feet creepy corn maze. Halloween at The Kennedy School

Local favorite McMenamins will be serving up some frightful fun at their Kennedy School location on Halloween Night. There’ll be indoor trick or treating and a costume competition for the kids, live music and limited edition beer tasting in the theater lobby for the adults, with cult horror classic movies playing in the theater throughout the night. 80s Video Dance Attack Halloween Party

On Halloween night, there’ll be tons of Halloween parties happening all over Portland, but none are as popular or as nostalgic as the 80s video dance attack party.
